Meet Our Team
Kaylee Millar – Program Coordinator
Kaylee Millar has worked with Second Chance 4 Youth since 2019. Kaylee teaches an employability soft skills class to a small group of incarcerated youth, chosen by the staff at each facility: Mill Creek (Ogden), and Decker Lake (Salt Lake). Her classes provide the students an opportunity to build a stronger sense of self and the importance of self-advocacy. Additionally, Kaylee aligns the mentors and the youth and aids in transitioning residents upon release. Prideful of her role on the Second Chance team, Kaylee is committed to helping break the cycles of generational incarceration, and lowering recidivism rates. She tracks the success of her students, and is extremely passionate about proving a true second chance to our troubled youth.
Kaylee is a graduate from Weber State University. Her undergraduate studies were Psychology and Nutrition and she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work. A life-long learner, she is passionate about exploring the connection between the brain, human behavior, and human interactions.
Born and raised in Utah, Kaylee lives in North Ogden with her husband, two children, and two dogs. Capitalizing on the beautiful outdoor scenery that Utah provides, she enjoys snow skiing, mountain biking, hiking, boating, camping, soccer, running, and traveling with her family.
Russell Pearson – Director of Enterprise
Russell Pearson has always been motivated to position himself for success. Unfortunately, poor choices sent him down a destructive path of addiction, eventually reaching a point where it tore apart his life. It is his ability to overcome his past experiences that has positioned Russell to serve as Executive Director of Second Chance 4 Youth.
Russell is a graduate of The Other Side Academy and is currently attending the University of Utah where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work and an Advanced Substance Use Disorder Certificate. Upon the completion of his undergraduate studies, Russell will immediately continue his education and pursue a Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Utah beginning summer of 2022.
Russell has the natural ability to have an impact on our youth and subsequently, plays a role in making our communities stronger. Currently, he his working on launching a Rotisserie Chicken Food Truck. This will allow the expansion of our program to the communities while also teaching the youth entrepreneurial literacy skills, as well as, providing an opportunity to find work post-release.
